European Union
Saxony is located at the heart of Europe. During the last enlargement round of the European Union in 2007, the Free State moved from a position at the edge of the Union into its centre. Saxony benefits greatly from the close cooperation with its immediate neighbours Poland and the Czech Republic. But the Free State also profits from the great variety of connections in all areas with other EU states.
Looking ahead
Saxony is a definitive factor within Europe. The Saxon state government and numerous representatives in Brussels work tirelessly on representing Saxony's interests within the EU. In the political arena, the Free State is active far beyond its own borders. But Saxony can also rely on many reliable partners in the areas of industry and culture throughout the European Union.
As a result, Saxony is contributing actively towards the economic, social, and cultural cohesion in Europe. The Free State promotes competition with other regions and supports learning exchange. Combining common interests will increase the chances of pushing through political objectives within the European Union.
