Saxony - Impact on Europe

The Free State of Saxony has a definite impact on Europe - by way of the German Federal Council, the Committee of the Regions, and also by way of diverse contacts in EU member states. Saxony also cultivates and maintains excellent relations with her neighbours and with partner regions in all of Europe. The Saxon state government continuously works to ensure that Saxon interests will continue to be protected during expansion and reinforcement of the EU.

State Chancellery of Saxony

The Chief of the State Chancellery in Saxony is also responsible for federal and European affairs. The Division for European Policy/EU Affairs of the Saxon State Chancellery is therefore responsible for the harmonisation and realisation of Saxon EU policy. Furthermore, it deals with cross-sectional issues in European policy, e.g. the implementation of the Constitutional Treaty, of structural and competition policy, general interest services, and EU expansion.
